Jesus Christ is the Head of Victory Baptist Church, and everything we do revolves around Him. The purpose of our church can be summed up in three words: Exalt, Edify, and Evangelize. First, we are focused in worshipping (Exalting) the Lord together. Second, we build up (Edify) the believers through our many ministries and fellowships. Third, we evangelize the world through community outreaches and world missions. You will find that we are a multicultural community of believers who love the Lord and love each other, reflecting the real family we are in Jesus Christ.
OUR HISTORYPastor Norm Freeburg started Victory Baptist Church in 1982. The church first met at the Elks Hall in downtown Port Coquitlam in a room above what is now the Europe Bakery. We moved to our present location at the corner of Prairie and Shaughnessy (2191 Prairie Avenue) where the first building was completed in 1986.
In 1989, Pastor Freeburg left to pursue another church planting effort and Dan Searle was called to be the new pastor, and continues to this time.
The need for a larger facility was investigated and pursued several times between 1990-2002. Finally, Treavor Patterson, a contractor and church member, suggested a workable design. In August 2002, ground was broken to remodel and expand the existing building. Much of the project was accomplished through the hard work of the members. Work was completed in June of 2004.
In January of 2011, Takayuki Hayashi was called to serve as an associate to the pastor.
As the congregation of Victory Baptist Church reflects upon God's goodness, God has truly been faithful.
Meet the Staff
Dan Searle was called to serve here at Victory Baptist Church in 1989. Over twenty-five years later we find that as our church family has grown, so has our Pastor's family. They have seven children ranging from elementary school to college age, and one who is married.
Originally from the United States, both Dan and Beth attended Bob Jones University before coming to serve the Lord in Canada. All of their children have been born in Canada and Beth and Dan have become citizens.
